Ug.......those words (in title) make me tired lol. we've worked for MONTHS inside and now there's an OUTSIDE to do? Uh..yeah. but this should go much faster. We are going to finish up the outside before we tackle the last room inside (master bathroom) since it spring/summer and ..well, it's time to move outside.
Here is what it looked like...some of the rocks have started to be removed here. The entire front has this weird boulder design and tons of river rock, which I detest.
We really had a struggle as to what to do w/ all these rocks and got some ridiculous quotes for removal. Then finally a guy came along and wanted to remove them himself. It took him 2 wks and 7 or 8 trips but they are finally gone! The following are pics inbetween his trips.
We removed juniper and underneath is this rock formation thingy
More rock up closer to house (gone now)
We yanked out the sad junipers here and plan to fill with pretty plants
rocks are gone from here. Going to plant pretty flowering shrubs.
Walkway through courtyardish area to front door. Didn't have rocks but once cleaned out will also have something pretty planted here.
Tomorrow while Chalres deals w/ the plumber, I'll be outside pulling up the plastic that was under the rocks and removing any last bit of rocks. Then we'll lay chicken wire to defeat the gophers lol, then fill w/ dirt and sod...eventually. I'm a bit anxious about this part of the project b/c to me it's SO ugly that I can't imagine that we can fix it. And we can't remove all that built up boulder border and replace it on our budget so we have to make it look the best we can. Hopefully our choices will distract from the remaining rock look.
